Two crappy rides in 2 days....

 It's not often that I end a ride by going: "Well...that's one I'll never do again!" but this happened TWICE to me this past weekend.

Columbia and Western rail trail

 Had the opportunity to ride the C&W rail trail from Castlegar to (almost) Christina Lake.

Chehalis exploration

 Spent the afternoon travelling and exploring some of the Chehalis Lake area.

First real ride of the season...

 A sunny Sunday, and a freshly-serviced bike meant it was time to get back into the saddle and go for a ride!

Ready for the new season...

 Winter officially began today...here in this corner of BC we should experience a few snowfalls, much rain and a few days of frigid Arctic cold.
I'm usually riding again by mid-February, and hope that 2024 is no different from the others.

With that in mind, I set upon replacing my rear-spring yesterday. Installation was fairly easy and straight-forward...I took pointers from the many YouTube videos and had the installation completed within a couple of hours. Replacing all of the plastics took longer than rebuilding the shock!

So now, I have a re-sprung bike....a rear carrier...and re-located footpegs.

I think I'm ready for the season!

I've started working on this check list below...fabricated a rear rack for this one that will serve as a base for my top case, which also serves as a backrest for the passenger. I built the rack using some ¼" thick PVC plastic, then a wooden deck, supported by aluminum angle. Each one of these materials was specifically chosen for its ease of use and "workability".

Shortly after bringing the bike home, I ordered a stiffer rear spring and am waiting for my insurance to expire, before installing it. I manufactured a spring compressor just for this task and can't wait to try it out...

I also manufactured some Footpeg Extension Brackets as seen in these photos.

They move the footpegs DOWN and BACK about 4 inches and the wife says it feels much better than the stock position. After posting these photos in forums, I got a few other examples that others designed for their bikes...so this may not be a finished product yet...
