Absolutely gorgeous today....albeit still a bit nippy. We got up to around 9C and since today was my "early" day, I thought I'd take advantage of the extra couple of hours and the sunshine as well.
The first ten minutes of riding had me thinking that I would be turning around soon...but as I approached the familiar turnoff, I decided to push onwards.
Soon, I am back at a recognizable feature...Mount Woodside in the background.
Already the RV's adorn the landscape...guess they'll be here until the freshet begins. Past the trailer, there is mud...I press on.
Once past the mud, I arrive at the usual destination...this is as far as I would typically drive.
TW poses for a pic...
Mt. Cheam (Shee-am....not "cheem")...the valley's centrepiece. I've been to the summit, but today I'd rather be here on the valley floor.
Past the point where I normally call it quits, the riverbed is well-packed and seems fairly solid, so on this day of days, I chose to continue and I am glad I did. I go as far as I can...before a river channel prevents me from going further. At this point, I can see the cars driving on the road along Mt. Woodside. What a difference a couple of months makes. Back in November, that road experienced a couple of nasty mudslides during the "Atmospheric Rivers" that we endured.
I enjoy the sun for a few minutes before heading back...
Even though it is a beautiful, sunny day...it is still unmistakably Winter...as shown here. Any piece of land that doesn't see sunshine still has some snow or in this case...ice.
There is a bit more "debris" than usual in the area...another reminder of the flood surge that occurred not long ago. All of this lumber will be put to good use by those who frequent the place. I'm sure it will be all gone before Easter.
On the way back, a shot to the East...
What a nice day for a ride...could be a bit warmer but as long as I'm out there, I'm not going to complain.
