Plain old Pasayten (sometimes GAIA lies!)

Been curious about this are for a while and being home a week early from holidays, meant that we had the chance to explore it.
This is the map of our travels...if you have GAIA, you can open it up and check the area out...between Eastgate (in Manning Park) and Similkameen Falls.

The route starts out like most FSR's...and the first 2 or 3 km are spent switching back and forth .

Unfortunately, there are few points-of-interest along this route, aside from the occasional "view" of the hillsides.

Pasayten River, flowing down below....

At this point, we are within a few km's (as the crow flies) from the US border...GAIA says that this route will continue for another 3 km to within 150m of the swath...

Unfortunately, the road turned uphill and headed east instead of south. It took us a while to figure out what was going on.
Sure...the road "continued" but it went through a makeshift campsite, a couple of cross ditches and then continued on here:

So I suppose GAIA wasn't really "lying"...the road was there, it was just hidden by a campsite and some low bushes.
At this time, we noticed a large black cloud coming from the south and dumping rain on the opposite side of the valley...I swear we managed to find the ONLY PLACE in the Province that was raining today!
The cloud was moving towards us slowly, so we knew we should get ahead of it or get stuck in it for the entire return journey.
On the way back, we stopped to admire this quaint campsite someone had built...there are several along the lower reaches of this road.

The Pasayten River runs alongside the camp...

So...that was about it for the Pasayten area. I'll make note of this trip as the "never needs to be repeated" type.
Finding your ride at the end of a ride is always a good thing!
